This is the answer to filling hay bags without getting frustrated! It's very easy to use and works great. The only downside is that it's not easy to store but I just keep it near the hay and load the hay bag from there. Easy peasy!

BEST USES

  • Filling hay nets

Comments:

The Stablehand is useful, but not quite as easy-to-use as I was envisioning. The idea is good - a giant flexible funnel that would help hold bags or hay nets open while you put stuff in. And it does work. The hard part is still getting it to hold a shape that you can put into a bag while putting it into the bag. There are handles, but if you hold them with one hand and the bag with the other, your cylinder turns into a funnel that opens the wrong way - big side down. Part of the problem is that the corners are still too square and catch on hay netting. They are rounded but not quite enough maybe? It could also benefit from handles on both ends. On the up side, it appears sturdy and will probably last a good long time as long as I find a place to stash it where it won't blow away. It can make loading hay nets easier, I just wish I could figure out the best way to hold it.

Comments:

It's a good idea, but I find that it's hard to get it into the hay net. Once it's in there it makes putting the hay in much easier, but the hay nets are awkward and hard to open. Not really the fault of this product, just hay nets in general.

Comments:

I like to weigh out my hay servings and the Stablehand makes it so much easier to fill my hay bags when hanging from a fish scale. I did have to replace my first Stablehand when the plastic broke at one of the hand holds, but still wanted another because it is such a helpful tool.

Comments:

The StableHand is indeed very handy for putting messy stuff into bags. As a new trailer owner, and being clueless about so many things, I really appreciate things to streamline the process. Putting hay in my nibble net is a breeze! I even used it for a sleeping bag stuffer after we had overnight guests. The only thing that keeps me from giving the product 5 stars is that its' difficult to store. I kind of wish it folded somehow.

BEST USES

  • Hay Bags

Comments:

I admit I tried to make due using old boxes and sheets of plastic to facilitate quick loading of hay bags. But the Stable Hand rocks. The built in hand grips making rolling it up easy - so the hay bag is ready for loading in two seconds. It took a chore I dreaded and made it fast, fast, fast.

  • Clean-up Loose Hay
  • NET
  • Mat Under Nets
  • Filling Hay Nets
  • Hay Nets "stand"

CONS

BEST USES

  • Under At For Filled Net
  • Mat Under Filled Nets
  • Catching Loose Hay
  • Filling hay nets
  • Sweep Loose Hay Onto It
  • Nets Stand Open

Comments:

Great product - I recommend it to anyone using hay nets. The nets stay open and standing for filling. I also use it to sweep loose hay onto after filling the nets. You can use it as a mat under filled nets, and when transferring the filled nets to the stall or paddock (reduces cleanup of loose hay). It would help if there was another hand-hole on the opposite side to help keep it rolled up tight enough while inserting into net,as it tends to want to unroll before insertion - but it really isn't a show-stopper. That would give it 5 stars!

  • Can Fill Nets By Myself

CONS

BEST USES

  • Filling Hay Nets Easily

Comments:

For such a simple idea, this product works great! I can now fill the hay nets by myself without someone having to try to hold them open. It has also made my nets looser so they don't want to spring closed as much. I have not used the StableHand for other purposes, but I can see how it would be helpful for bagging leaves also. It stores flat so doesn't take up hardly any room, or could be rolled and tied for storage.

Comments:

I loved the idea of this product, and it does work, just not as easily as I hoped. I use it on several forms of hay nets. If they already stretch easily then it's a snap to slide the stablehand in, however, on a tighter woven polynet the corners of the stablehand get hung up on the netting. I solved this by tieing the handles together with twine but it's another step. I did find it is great to help slide things saround that are too heavy to lift.
